The Discovery That Changed Everything

I was sick for most of my life.

Chronic digestive issues, daily headaches, anxiety and depression that made it hard to function. Despite having loving parents, good doctors, and access to therapy, nothing seemed to work long-term.

In my twenties, I decided to become a therapist - partially because I wanted to help others, but mostly because I desperately wanted to help myself.

I earned my PhD in Counselor Education. I became a licensed trauma therapist with some of the most elite training available. I learned everything the research had to offer about stress, trauma, and nervous system regulation.

And then I started my career and burned out within six months.

I got sicker than I'd ever been - despite doing everything "right." Therapy, medication, meditation, exercise, social support. All the self-care in the world couldn't stop me from falling apart.

That's when I realized something crucial: if the best approaches weren't working for someone who understood them professionally, maybe the approaches themselves were incomplete.

So I did what researchers do. I went looking for what was missing.

Prevention vs. Pathology

Here's what I discovered in my research:

We have an incredibly sophisticated system for treating illness after it develops. Modern medicine works because it's built on four pillars:

  1. Model - A comprehensive framework for understanding human anatomy (like Gray's Anatomy)

  2. Matrix - Standardized assessment tools to evaluate what's happening in a specific person

  3. Map - Organized systems for categorizing experiences (like the DSM or ICD codes)

  4. Method - Specific treatment protocols matched to assessment results

These four pillars create what we call the paradigm of pathology - a complete, legitimate system for addressing disease.

But here's what's missing: we don't have these four pillars for prevention.

We know, for sure, that unresolved stress and trauma can make us sick.

We also know that the choices we make in our lifestyle can make a profound impact on preventing us from getting sick.

But we don’t have a standardized way to:

  • Understand how stressful situations actually moves through your complete system

  • Assess which specific responses are overactive or shut down

  • Map your patterns with precision

  • Match you with practices that resolve YOUR stress signature

Instead, we have solid wellness advice that only works for certain people in certain cases. General self-care tips that don’t necessarily resolve the root cause. And one-size-fits-all recommendations that might help a little but don't get at what’s actually going on.

Without the four pillars required for a complete paradigm, stress prevention and lifestyle choices can't be as legitimate, systematic, or effective as conventional care.

This is exactly what I set out to create.

What’s the book about?

Gravity Point® (Volume 1): 20 Steps to Resolve Stress Before It Makes You Sick gives you the complete framework for understanding your stress system - the foundation everything else builds upon.

  • As a neurocounselor, it’s my job to look at complex neuroscience research (neuro-) and turn it into tools folks can actually use without having to actually do the research (-counselor). I’ll give you an easy-to-understand way to understand the science of stress so you can better understand what’s happening in your body, mind, and relationships when situations trigger your nervous system.

    You'll learn the neuroscience foundation you need to understand how stress actually works:

    • Why general wellness advice or stress resolution practices don’t work for situation-specific stress patterns

    • Why stress responses that kept you safe as a child might be draining you now

    • How your nervous system determines which specific responses activate in different situations

    • The difference between dynamic stress (that resolves) and distorted/depressed stress (that gets stuck)

    • How neuroplasticity means you can rewire automatic responses through conscious practice

    This section bridges complex neuroscience with practical application - giving you the "why" behind what you'll learn to do.

  • Most people think stress responses are limited to fight, flight, freeze, maybe fawn - maybe tend and befriend..

    But through my research, I discovered there are actually 20 distinct stress responses that address different types of energy and information moving through your system.

    Each response has a name starting with F (making them easy to remember) - like FOSTER, FLOWER, and FANTASIZE.

    For each of the 20 responses, you'll learn:

    • What it does and why it matters

    • How it shows up in your body, mind, and relationships

    • When it's operating dynamically (effectively) vs. when it's stuck in trauma responses that don’t serve you anymore

    • Self-reflective exercises to recognize your patterns

    This is where you build the language to understand what's actually happening in your stress system - the awareness that makes conscious choice possible.

  • Once you understand the 20 stress responses, you'll learn how to use them to resolve stress in any specific situation. Spoiler alert: it’s a simple 20 step process you’ll learn once and return to over and over again - no matter the situation.

    The Method is a universal process that works whether you're dealing with:

    • Workplace pressure and conflict

    • Relationship dynamics

    • Family stress

    • Health anxiety

    • Financial worry

    • Any other triggering situation

    You'll identify one specific stressful situation, then move through all 20 steps:

    Phase 1: Detach (Steps 1-10) - Release energy and information that doesn't serve you in this situation

    Phase 2: Attach (Steps 11-20) - Pull in energy and information that supports your aspiration

    Each step includes clear instructions and journaling prompts so you can apply the process immediately to real situations in your life.

    This isn't theory - it's a practical tool that you can use over and over for complete stress resolution in every Triggering Situation you encounter ever again.
